Histoire de la distillerie de BenRiach:
La distillerie fut fondée en 1898 par John Duff sous le nom de Longmorn, bien qu'elle fut appelée localement Longmorn 2 En 1900, la distillerie est enregistrée sous le nom de Longmorn Distillery Co. Ltd. A la suite du crash des Pattison en 1900, la distillerie est mise en sommeille jusqu'en 1965. Bien que la distillerie soit fermée, les aires de maltages continuent d'opérer et de fournir de l'orge maltée à sa voisine, Longmorn. La distillerie est complètement rénovée en 1965 par son nouveau propriétaire, Glenlivet Distilleries Ltd, avant de reprendre ses activités en 1966. La distillerie changera de nom en "Benriach-Glenlivet" en 1975. Glenlivet distillers Ltd, y compris BenRiach, est racheté en 1978 par Seagram Ltd. En 1983, suite à une pénurie de malts d'Islay pour les blends, la production de whisky fortement tourbé est initiée. En 1985, la capacité de production est augmentée, avec le nombre d'alambiques passant de 2 à 4. En 1999, la distillerie n'opère que 3 mois et ses aires de maltages sont fermées. Le 19 décembre 2001, Pernod-Ricard acquiert Seagram et stoppe la production de BenRiach en août 2002. Pernod-Ricard vendra la distillerie en avril 2004 à PR Brand Intra trading, un consortium constitué de Billy Walker et des Sud-africains Geoff Bell et Wayne Keiswetter. La première distillation sous cette nouvelle direction eu lieu le 20 Septembre 2004. Depuis 2004, la production de malt tourbé (10%) et non-tourbé (90%) est continue. Le 5 Novembre 2012, BenRiach a ré-ouvert ses aires de maltage.
